Geležinis Vilkas finishes the season as Lithuania’s top rugby team
The final whistle, a 43:30 scoreline, and a bronze medal. Geležinis Vilkas, the Vilnius rugby club Satchel has sponsored since 2024, has wrapped up its 2026 season in the Baltic Rugby TOP League in 3rd place, and as the strongest Lithuanian team in the competition.
We’re proud to congratulate the players, coaches, and the whole Iron Wolf community on a season to remember.
A 43:30 win in the bronze game
The season came down to the 3rd-place game against Baltrex-Šiauliai, another Lithuanian side. Geležinis Vilkas came out on top, 43:30, securing a place on the podium of the Baltic TOP League, the competition that brings together the strongest men’s rugby teams from across the Baltic region.
The best Lithuanian team of the season
Third place in a Baltic league also means something closer to home: no Lithuanian club finished higher. In the club’s own words, this season they became the best in Lithuania.
The team is open about having aimed higher, but proud of what it achieved together. It’s the kind of result that sets the bar for next season rather than ending the conversation.
The result also builds on a strong track record. Geležinis Vilkas has been developing rugby in Lithuania for more than 60 years, unites over 300 athletes across all age groups, and took bronze in the Baltic Rugby TOP League in 2023 as well.
A thank-you to the fans
In its season-closing message, the club gave special thanks to its supporters. Every chant, every round of applause, and every shout from the stands, the team said, gave them the courage to push forward, especially in the toughest moments of the season.
That sense of community is exactly what drew Satchel to Geležinis Vilkas in the first place. Rugby in Lithuania doesn’t live under a big spotlight. It’s built by players, families, coaches, and fans who show up week after week.
Two seasons of partnership
Satchel became the sponsor of Geležinis Vilkas in September 2024. Since then, our partnership has gone beyond the men’s team: in 2025, we hosted the Satchel Cup together, an international women’s rugby-7s tournament in Vilnius under the slogan “women empower women.”
The team closes the season with gratitude, pride, and motivation to come back even stronger. We’ll be there, in the stands and on the jerseys, when they do.
Congratulations, Iron Wolves, and see you next season!
