Satchel sponsors a forest-planting initiative in Vilnius

This year, Vilnius is the European Green Capital 2025. The title recognizes cities that lead the way in sustainable urban living, and our home city has been marking it with ambitious environmental projects that will leave a lasting legacy for generations to come.
If you’ve been following Satchel for a while, you know we take our environmental footprint seriously: collaborations with Plastics for Change, HOLD.EARTH, and Mes Darom organizations are the outcome of recognizing our responsibility in shaping the world we’re leaving to others. No “après nous, le déluge” mindset here.
That’s why today, we’re proud to announce our sponsorship of the “Green Capital Forest” initiative, a part of the European Green Capital 2025 forest-planting program on S. Batoro Street in Vilnius.
Forest as a part of Lithuanian DNA
The special affinity for forests is deeply ingrained in the Lithuanian collective psyche: if you haven’t read the local literary classics, you might have come across Oscar Milosz’s poetic reflections that prove it. These days, although modern and urbanized, the country is still one of the greenest in Europe. There’s a strong and continued intention of local communities to sustain that.
“Green Capital Forest” initiative aims to complete a new urban forest that began taking root earlier this spring, when 500 Vilnius residents and 15 organizations came together to plant approximately 1,300 trees. The final phase requires an additional 300 trees to complete this green transformation.
Once established, the area will have walking paths, benches, information stands, and bicycle parking, making it a welcoming space for residents to enjoy nature within the city.
Our commitment to Vilnius
At Satchel, we believe that building the future of financial services goes hand-in-hand with building sustainable communities. As a Lithuanian-based EMI, we’re deeply connected to Vilnius and committed to contributing to its growth – not just economically, but environmentally and socially.
Supporting this forest-planting initiative aligns with our values of innovation, responsibility, and long-term thinking. Just as we help businesses grow and expand internationally, we want to help our city flourish in ways that benefit everyone who calls it home.
Join the movement
The planting event will take place here on November 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM, and all Vilnius residents are invited to participate. The Vilnius City Municipality will provide tools, seedlings, and refreshments, while specialists will be on site to guide the participants through the planting process.
A shoutout to students: participation counts toward your social hours – make it both a meaningful contribution and a valuable learning experience.
We’re excited to be a part of this initiative alongside other forward-thinking organizations that recognize the importance of investing in our environment.
