Satchel Cup 2025: Women empower women on the rugby field
This past weekend, together with our partner, Geležinis Vilkas Rugby Club, Satchel hosted an International Women’s Rugby-7s Tournament, the Satchel Cup, bringing together talented teams from Lithuania, Latvia, and Poland.
The slogan—women empower women—reflected the players’ state of mind and set the stage for the intriguing competition. Despite the cold weather, the game was fierce, with athletes showcasing incredible skill, resilience, and determination on the field.

Kristianas Tautvydas Jakuba, the coach of Geležinis Vilkas women’s rugby team, said the initial idea was to hold a local tournament, which evolved into an exciting international event. He commented on the results of the tournament, saying: “Time on the field is very important to our players and we definitely need more events like the Satchel Cup for women in sports. It was a great opportunity for our rugby teams to show skill and compete as they get ready for the game season.”
